What You'll Learn
In this course, you'll build essential drawing skills and explore various media. You'll learn about basic drawing materials while developing hand-eye coordination through contour and gesture drawing exercises that capture movement and energy. We'll focus on breaking complex subjects into simple shapes, creating three-dimensional form, and understanding composition, positive and negative space. You'll develop tonal awareness and learn to render light, shadow, and texture to create depth and volume. Throughout the sessions, you'll experiment with charcoal, graphite, ink, and pastels, discovering the unique properties of each medium and combining techniques for expressive effects as you create finished works that showcase your developing skills.
